چکیده

The title reaction was investigated in aqueous alkaline medium. A first dependence in Bi (V)) concentration and a order in both Vanillin and alkali were obtained at the concentration studied. The effect of added products and the ionic strength of the reaction medium have no significant effect on the reaction rate. Effect of temperature on the rate of reaction has also been studied and Eyring’s activation parameters have been evaluated. A mechanism based on the experimental results in proposed and the rate law is derived.

A simple and sensitive spectrophotometric determination of monoamine oxidase activity.

A simple, sensitive Spectrophotometric determination of monoamine oxidase activity from tissue homogenates is described. This method is based on the high extinction coefficient of 4-hydroxy-3-methoxy-benzaldehyde (vanillin) at 345 nm at pH ~ 11.7. Vanillin is formed by inonoamine oxidase when 4-hydroxy-3-methoxy-benzylamine is used as substrate. The primary oxidation product, 4-hydroxy-3-methox...

Kinetics and specificity of guinea pig liver aldehyde oxidase and bovine milk xanthine oxidase towards substituted benzaldehydes.

Molybdenum-containing enzymes, aldehyde oxidase and xanthine oxidase, are important in the oxidation of N-heterocyclic xenobiotics. However, the role of these enzymes in the oxidation of drug-derived aldehydes has not been established. The present investigation describes the interaction of eleven structurally related benzaldehydes with guinea pig liver aldehyde oxidase and bovine milk xanthine ...

Fast and green microwave-assisted conversion of essential oil allylbenzenes into the corresponding aldehydes via alkene isomerization and subsequent potassium permanganate promoted oxidative alkene group cleavage.

Essential oil allylbenzenes from have been converted quickly and efficiently into the corresponding benzaldehydes in good yields by a two-step "green" reaction pathway based on a solventless alkene group isomerization by KF/Al(2)O(3) to form the corresponding 1-arylpropene and a subsequent solventless oxidation of the latter to the corresponding benzaldehyde by KMnO(4)/CuSO(4).5H(2)O. The assis...

The 1.8 A resolution structure of hydroxycinnamoyl-coenzyme A hydratase-lyase (HCHL) from Pseudomonas fluorescens, an enzyme that catalyses the transformation of feruloyl-coenzyme A to vanillin.

The crystal structure of hydroxycinnamoyl-CoA hydratase-lyase (HCHL) from Pseudomonas fluorescens AN103 has been solved to 1.8 A resolution. HCHL is a member of the crotonase superfamily and catalyses the hydration of the acyl-CoA thioester of ferulic acid [3-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxy-phenyl)prop-2-enoic acid] and the subsequent retro-aldol cleavage of the hydrated intermediate to yield vanillin (4-...
